This homemade chocolate, coconut and tahini granola is the best start of your day and it’s seriously addictive! I made once and haven’t made a different granola since. It’s sweet, yet not too much. Nutty and a little savoury. Paired with yogurt and your favourite fruit makes this granola a healthy breakfast or a quick snack.

Before we get to the recipe, let’s have a quick look at the ingredients. I love versatile recipes and this one is one of them. You can adjust this granola to your taste buds and dietary requirements.

Oats

Jumbo oats create the best results for any granola. Smaller oats will work too, of course. You can try gluten free or other wheat alternative.

Oil

Coconut oil is the obvious choice as it enhances the coconut flavour of this granola. Any oil without strong flavour will do the job.

Sweetener

There is a wide choice of sugars and sweeteners. I prefer to use honey but agave or maple syrup will work the same for vegan option. Liquid sweeteners are better as you need moisture before baking the granola. If you want to use sugar you will have to add more milk or oil to make up for it.

Additions

There is loads of ways you can pimp up this chocolate, coconut and tahini granola, not that it needs it! Although the recipe doesn’t list chocolate chips, they will definitely make it even more chocolatey. You can throw in other nuts and seeds, such as chia to add more nutrition. Use your imagination and create the granola of your dreams.

The method

Making granola is super easy! Mix dry and wet ingredients and bake. The only thing you have to keep in mind is not to make your mixture too wet. You want it to be sticky, enough so it stays together when you scrunch it.

When you’re spreading the granola mixture on the baking tray, pack it close and tight. That way you’ll get those tasty granola chunks. Be careful when you stir the granola mid-baking. Gently turn or break it with a spatula, keeping it chunky. Bake until the granola is dry.
